GREENSBORO, N.C. — Tuesday’s stabbing at North Forsyth reignited the debate over cellphone usage in schools. Today, several parents who have students enrolled in Guilford County Schools gave their opinion on the matter. A common concern quickly emerged: cellphones are one of the biggest disruptions to classroom learning. While parents acknowledge phones can play a role in emergencies, many believe their use during class does more harm than good.

“It’s totally insane for a child to have a cellphone in class,” said Timothy Ireland, a father of two students in Guilford County Schools.
