GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police on Monday announced the conclusion of a three-year partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice, an effort officials say contributed to a sharp decline in homicides in the city.
Through the Justice Department’s National Public Safety Partnership, homicides in Greensboro fell 42% in 2024 and continued to decline in 2025, according to the Greensboro Police Department.
In recognition of that progress, the Justice Department awarded Greensboro a $500,000 capacity-building grant to expand and sustain the crime-reduction strategies developed through the partnership.
Building real-time crime-fighting capacity
