Built over 160 years ago, Boise’s first family home still stands today

The building that served as the first home and the site of the first Catholic services in Boise still stands today.

The John O’Farrell cabin takes us back to the earliest days of settlement — the first family home in an area that would one day grow into a capital city.

“The O’Farrell cabin was one of Boise’s first family homes and Catholic worship centers,” the Idaho Architecture Project notes on its website. “It is now the oldest family living home in the Boise area and one of Boise’s most important landmarks.”…
