Portland fire crews enhance high-rise fire plans, inspired by tragic Hong Kong fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) responded to a potential high-rise fire at the Fox Tower last Monday, following multiple 911 reports of heavy black smoke emanating from the building’s vents.

Once on the scene, crews confirmed smoke in the area, but it was later determined to be caused by a mechanical malfunction, posing no threat to the building or its occupants.
