Another atmospheric river brings high winds, heavy rain, and warm temperatures to the region

Another atmospheric river will bring an active weather pattern to the Inland Northwest this week.

Today, we will see heavy mountain rain, valley showers, high winds, and potentially record breaking temperatures. Spokane’s rain totals are expected to be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. Higher totals are expected over the Cascades and through the north Idaho Panhandle leading to flooding concerns through Wednesday. We could also see rock and mudslides possible in steep terrain and recently burn scarred areas.

Moving into this afternoon, winds will pick up from the southwest. Sustained winds will be 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph possible. Winds will become even stronger Tuesday into Wednesday with a high wind watch going into place. Gusts with this second wind event could reach upwards of 60 mph…
