Having already made Wolf Pack history, Annalies Kalma aims for more record-breaking times

From growing up on a dairy farm in New Zealand to sprinting for the Nevada Wolf Pack in Reno, Annalies Kalma left home for opportunity and to make a name for herself on the track.

“It’s very different,” Kalma said. “In New Zealand, I feel like it is not as popular at all. I decided to come over to America mostly because I wanted to expand my career and get better and have more competition.”

That opportunity at Nevada nearly never happened, the combination of a global pandemic and Kalma suffering a major injury as a high school senior almost caused her to slip through the cracks. Until Wolf Pack coach Shantel Twiggs stepped in…
