BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — People in Buffalo’s African American Heritage Corridor are getting ready to once again honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The historic Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church held its kickoff event for the 2026 MLK Day of Service on Monday. People are encouraged to volunteer at East Side churches and nonprofit groups on the federal holiday on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026.
“We’re the City of Good Neighbors, so the reality is a city of good neighbors, they want to help,” said Faustenia L. Morrow, founder of the MLK Day of Service. “And I think that is so powerful.”
