Erie first responders highlight staying calm, new tech after weekend rescue

(WJET/WFXP) — Erie County first responders and safety officials are praising the nerves of a local hunter and reminding the public of how modern technology can help during an emergency after the hunter got stuck in a marsh over the weekend.

According to Lake City Fire Company, they and several other departments got the call for a hunter stuck in a marsh on State Gamelands 109 on Saturday morning, around 11 a.m.

Firefighters said the hunter unknowingly walked into the marsh due to snow cover and quickly found himself knee-deep in rising mud and water, unable to get out on his own before calling 911.
