CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Clovis is proposing a dramatic water rate increase – it would be the city’s first since 2009.
City leaders will propose increasing the rate by 23% per year for three years. That’s an overall rate increase of 86.1%. However, as part of the proposed new rate structure, the city will discontinue its “tier” system, meaning every customer will be impacted differently and may not experience that exact percentage.
But, despite the significant increase, whatever it may be individually, the city’s average rate will remain below the area’s average.
So why is this rate change being considered?
