Immaculate Heart of Mary Church bids farewell after 72 years in Louisville’s west end

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Louisville’s west end held its bittersweet farewell on Sunday.

The parish, which started as a barn without electricity 72 years ago, is closing at the end of the year due to a declining Catholic population in the area and the expensive upkeep.
