ACWORTH — With the 250th anniversary of the United States around the corner, Allatoona High School kickstarted the celebrations this week.
The U.S. Department of Education brought its national “History Rocks! Trail to Independence” tour to the Acworth school where former Gov. Sonny Perdue took the stage to encourage students to cheer on the nation’s semiquincentennial.
“While the United States of America may be 250 years old, we want it to be another 250 years old, and it’s always tough to keep it that way,” Perdue told the auditorium of students. “To maintain that, we have to work at it … That’s why we’re here today in a high school, because it’s education that prevents us from moving into other areas.”…
