WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Tim Merrick, a member of the New Hanover County Board of Education, has confirmed plans to run for the District 20 seat in the North Carolina House of Representatives currently held by Rep. Ted Davis.
Davis, who served as New Hanover County Commissioner prior to his role as state legislator, announced last month he would not seek reelection after serving seven and a half terms in Raleigh.
Merrick plans to officially file for the District 20 House seat on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Noon. The democrat from Wilmington is currently serving his first term on the school board after winning the seat on that board in 2024…
