Grant funding to go toward St. Johns park revitalization

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — $150,000 in grant funding will go toward upgrading and improving Senior Citizen Park, located in St. Johns, the city announced Monday.

The funding comes from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Recreation Passport Grant program, and city officials say it will be combined with around $250,000 in local funding, allowing the city to start the first phase of park improvements.

According to a release from the city, phase one will consist of new fencing, new sidewalks, parking enhancements, a swinging bench, and additional work that will lead to the installation of six pickleball courts on park grounds. Officials say the latter feature was “highly requested.”…
