DES MOINES, Iowa — Sergeant Edgar Torres-Tovar, 25, was killed in Syria on deployment while serving his country in the Iowa National Guard.
Krystal Torres, Edgar’s sister, posted on social media over the weekend about the loss of her brother.

“I miss you. we all miss you. You only had a couple more months left till you came back home, but they took you away from us so soon. Why did this cruel world have to take you away. This all seems so unreal, part of me wants to believe it’s all a dream, that we could turn back the time and never let you go to Syria. You were a good person, brother, son, uncle, friend and you will be deeply missed Edgar. now you’re watching over all of us, with Grandma, grandpa, tu sobrino Ángel , and every other loved one that are not in this world with us. Eres mi bello ángel, I will forever cherish that last hug and last I Love you. te queremos mucho edgar, descansa. I will love you forever and always hermano. until we meet again,” said Krystal in a post on social media.
Torres-Tavor was the first in his family to serve in the military. And as Krystal posted on social media, he was supposed to be back home in a couple of months, which makes the loss more devastating…
