DES MOINES—When the Central Lyon High School dance team took to the floor at the Iowa State Dance Team Championships last week, it performed a high-energy novelty routine that involved props, costumes and backdrops — and a grand finale featuring blow-up cows.
“Novelty was new for us this year,” said coach Molly Oedekoven. “I had a vision for it sometime last spring.”
Earlier this year, Oedekoven cast a vision for a fun and theatrical ode to Chick-fil-A, the popular sandwich chain. She lined up a professional choreographer, and then she contacted the Sioux City Chick-fil-A location, which donated some white, company-issued aprons and name tags…
