Lubbock landmark closes as redevelopment moves forward

LUBBOCK, Texas — Cafe J, a longtime restaurant and bar across from Texas Tech University, closed its doors for the final time Sunday night, bringing an end to one of Lubbock’s most recognizable gathering spots.

The restaurant, located at 2605 19th Street, closed after graduation weekend. The property has been sold and will be demolished to make way for a high-density student housing development near campus.
