Different communities have different interpretations on speed camera warnings

KERSEY, Colo — A total of 71 drivers were clocked breaking the speed limit along County Road 49 near Highway 34 in the small Weld County town of Kersey this spring.

The infractions were captured during a warning period for the town’s photo radar system, which is required by state law. The town extended its warning period an extra 30 days, according to Police Chief Jonathan Lange.

But none of those drivers clocked speeding on the camera were ever notified that they broke the law because, Lange said, the town never mailed out any warning citations…
