The Boulder Valley, St. Vrain Valley and Adams 12 school districts all warned parents today about the possibility that an extended power shutoff from Xcel Energy will impact schools.
For all three districts, this is the last week of school before winter break.
Xcel Energy is considering an extended power shutoff starting at noon Wednesday in response to forecasts for high winds and dry conditions that would create a fire risk. According to Xcel, restoration may take several hours up to multiple days after the high winds and elevated fire risk have ended. The shutoff is expected to impact Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties…
