Mayor Wu addresses canceled Faneuil Hall citizenship ceremonies

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu on Tuesday morning addressed Faneuil Hall citizenship ceremonies that recently had to be canceled or postponed indefinitely at the last moment and the uncertainty now rising in the immigrant community about a path to citizenship in the U.S.

Wu and Gail Breslow, executive director of Project Citizenship, spoke at Faneuil Hall about the naturalization ceremonies scheduled for Dec. 4 that were canceled for citizenship applications from countries considered high-risk by the federal government.

“It is disturbing to the upmost degree, infuriating that here, many people who had put in a ton of work to become a U.S. citizen, who had gone though every step of the process who and checked off every stringent requirement were then pulled out of line because of a sudden change in policy,” Wu said…
