Town of Summerville receives state arts and culture designation

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) — The Lowcountry now has a new arts and culture district that could allow the Town of Summerville to qualify for more grants to expand their community.

The South Carolina Arts Commission has designated part of downtown Summerville as one of its new culture districts, making it one of only 13 towns in the state to receive this recognition.

The designation opens doors to new grant funding, more public art projects and opportunities for local artists to showcase their work in downtown Summerville. Officials say the designation could mean more celebrations of creativity coming to Main Street…
