Ford to produce gas-powered trucks instead of EV’s at Blue Oval City

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — Ford announced on Monday that it will produce all-new Built Ford Tough truck models, which are gas-powered, with production starting in 2029.

Ford originally announced it would produce EV trucks in 2028, but it has now been replaced by the new production of gas-powered Tough truck models at the Stanton facility.

According to Ford, on the BlueOval City campus, the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center will be renamed Tennessee Truck Plant.

Ford said the new affordable gas-powered trucks will broaden Ford’s truck family and extend its market leadership, replacing the previously planned next-generation electric truck.
