The restaurateur behind Bridge Street Bar plans to open a country-rock bar with a full food menu on Grand Rapids’ west side in the building where Turnstiles formerly operated.
Firebird Bar GR expects to open in February 2026 at 526 Stocking Ave. NW, said Robert Wahl, who also owns The Win Tavern 33 in Jenison. Wahl is creating an extensive food menu and themed drink offerings for what would be his second west side bar, which also plans to host live music.
Wahl described the food he’s planning to serve at Firebird Bar as “almost two little restaurants in one.” The bar will have a salad bar and lunch buffet, bone-in chicken, chicken sandwiches, jalapeno hush puppies, pimento mac and cheese, greens, sweet potato fries, and a range of pizza options…
