La Esquina Cocina to close downtown Huntsville location in January

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — La Esquina Cocina (LEC), a popular Mexican dining spot in downtown Huntsville, will close its doors after January 4, 2026, according to the restaurant.

The restaurant confirmed the news on a social media post this week. While the owners did not share specific reasons for the closure, they stated plans to reopen La Esquina at a new location in the future.

“We feel this transition will be a positive move as we grow. In order to provide the quality service we strive to give, we will be closing La Esquina in the interim to ensure we can give 100% to our other projects. As soon as construction is complete, we will begin working on La Esquina Cocina. We are so thankful for our customers, new and loyal. It is because of you all that LEC survived the pandemic and had a thriving almost 6 years in downtown Huntsville. This is not goodbye, but a see you later.”…
