MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -A woman is fighting for her life weeks after she was nearly killed in a hit-and-run while riding her bicycle, and the man accused of hitting her was arrested and released on bond.
Police say 26-year-old James Howard was taken into custody the day after the crash and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury. The victim, Rebecca Carter, suffered multiple broken bones and severe head trauma.
Carter’s parents say she was transferred to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where she’s beginning intensive rehabilitation, hoping to learn how to walk and talk again. Because of the brain damage she suffered, they say this hit-and-run has permanently changed her life…
