(FOX40.COM) — A Sacramento-area caregiver was arrested after being accused of stealing a patient’s diamond wedding ring, which was an “irreplaceable” gift from her late husband. • Video Above: Most commonly reported crimes in the U.S.
On Dec. 13, the Folsom Police Department responded to an 88-year-old woman who reported that her diamond wedding ring had been stolen. After an investigation, police identified said they identified the suspect as her caregiver, Pita Porter, 46, of Sacramento.
According to FPD, Porter met with law enforcement the next day and confessed to the theft. Police said they also recovered the stolen ring. Porter was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail. She faces charges of grand theft and elder abuse.
“Most importantly, the cherished ring was returned to its rightful owner,” FPD said…
