A violent episode shattered the routine atmosphere of New Orleans’ Holy Cross neighborhood this past weekend when a woman was discovered shot dead on a residential porch. The New Orleans Police Department confirmed they were called to the 900 block of St. Maurice Avenue around 5:28 p.m. on Saturday in response to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel found the woman lifelessly sprawled on the porch of a house, a scene all too familiar in a city grappling with gun violence. She was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS personnel, as reported by WWL Louisiana.
