PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland’s Transportation Bureau continues beefing up parking enforcement to help its bottom line as the agency deals with a difficult financial situation.
New data KATU obtained shows just how many tickets have been written over the last several years.
The uptick in enforcement coincides with an increase in parking enforcement officers over the last couple of years. A bureau spokesperson said the agency was authorized 52 enforcement officers in early 2024. The bureau currently has funding for 84 positions, but is dealing with some vacancies due to attrition and training.
PBOT shared data showing the monthly average of tickets in a six-month span at the end of 2022 was roughly 7,800 tickets. In the six months ending in June 2025, the bureau wrote more than 16,000 tickets per month, on average…
