Dispute over Woodland councilor’s unexcused absence escalates into heated argument

Woodland Mayor Todd Dinehart continues to assert Councilor Gabe Huston’s residency claim is false, though he said no internal investigation or removal process is underway.

After a heated debate over Huston’s recent unexcused absence, Dinehart told The Reflector that the procedure to remove Huston would cost “tens of thousands of dollars,” a cost he said is too high for the City of Woodland.

A motion made by Councilor Jason Friend to excuse Huston was not seconded during a Monday, Dec. 1, meeting. During last week’s Monday special meeting on Dec. 8, Huston said he contacted the mayor and six other council members asking to excuse his absence, and felt the lack of action taken by the council was unjustified…
