WASHINGTON (WJW) — Two employees at a Washington, D.C., zoo were reportedly attacked by a mammal commonly known as a bearcat last week and had to be transported to the hospital.
The Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute said that on Tuesday, around 10 a.m., one staff member was working with Lola the bear cat, also called a binturong, trying to get its weight when the animal bit them and “did not readily let go.”
