Irondale city leaders are laying out a timeline for when shoppers can expect the new Costco to open. Mayor James Stewart says site preparation off Grants Mill Road will begin in early 2026 with a projected opening date in spring of 2028.
The project is anticipated to be the city’s largest economic driver. District 5 Council Member Aaron Sims expressed excitement, stating, “Overall the city is very excited; it’s going to be a huge revenue boost for the city.” The store will receive up to $70 million in performance-based incentives, but the city expects up to $1 million in revenue the first year and long-term revenue of $6 to $8 million per year.
