U.S. Navy Blue Angels visit Charleston ahead of the 2026 Charleston Airshow

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The countdown to the 2026 Charleston Airshow kicked off Tuesday afternoon with a visit to the Lowcountry from one of the world’s most elite flight teams, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

The U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, also known as the Blue Angels, is the second-oldest formal aerobatic team in the world. It has become a household name, showcasing the culture of dedication and service to the United States, while inspiring generations.

“[It] means the world,” said Lt. Ronny “Downy” Hafeza, one of the Blue Angels. “In doing so, you’re performing a really cool flight demonstration, and you get a lot of positive feedback in real time, where little kids have big open eyes, and they just want to do what you do.”…
