CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Candles were lit for more than one reason on the second night of Hanukkah, as Jewish communities reflected on both celebration and loss following a deadly attack overseas.
The violence happened Sunday during a Hanukkah beachside celebration in Sydney, Australia. While the attack occurred thousands of miles away, local Jewish leaders say its impact is being felt deeply in North Carolina.
