Addiction treatment targeting recovery, safer reentry starts at Hamilton County Jail

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — People struggling with addiction inside the Hamilton County Jail will now have access to treatment designed to help them get better, not just get through their sentence.

On Tuesday, Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett announced the launch of a new medication assisted treatment program at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.

The program combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapy to help people with substance use disorders.
