CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A highly contagious new strain of norovirus is spreading across the U.S., raising concerns as families prepare to gather for the Christmas holiday.
Known as the “winter vomiting disease,” norovirus causes symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, typically lasting one to three days. There is no treatment except rehydration.
Dr. Anar Patel, an infectious disease specialist at Ohio’s TriHealth, expressed concern about the timing of the virus’s spread this year. “It looks like the peak is coming maybe a little bit earlier than we would usually see it,” Patel said. “We are seeing a high number of cases, earlier in the winter season.”…
