LA County opens $23M rent relief program. Who is eligible?

Los Angeles County wildfire victims and county renters facing financial hardship, it’s time to turn to your landlords. They may be eligible for thousands of dollars in rent relief through a program opening on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Applications for the Los Angeles County Emergency Rent Relief Program can be submitted starting on Dec. 17. Through this program, more than $23 million in rental and mortgage relief will be distributed to those eligible, according to the Los Angeles County Consumer and Business Affairs.

But key for Los Angeles County residents to know: Tenants cannot directly apply to the program. Instead, they can refer their landlords to apply, according to the program’s website.
