MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A new animal shelter is 50 percent designed, and Mayor Spiro Cheriogoits said he hopes to begin construction next year.
The mayor, who inherited the project from his predecessor, said at Tuesday’s Mobile City Council meeting that he wanted to “tweak” the design and asked for other alternatives.
“I think the image that we’re putting out there is important, and I wanted them to give me a few more options on exactly what the frontage of that building would look like,” he told reporters after the meeting. “There was a fun idea of, like, an oversized fire hydrant, which I did like, too.
