Stolen wine, meat recovered at end of high-speed chase in Daphne

DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – A High-speed chase across the bay ended in a crash on the Cochran Africatown Bridge. Police said the driver hit speeds of 120 miles per hour.

The chase ended on the top of the bridge Monday night, December 15, 2025. It started in a Publix parking lot in Daphne. Police said the driver lost control and crashed into the retaining wall.

“She’s fortunate that no one else was involved in the crash,” said Captain Reginald Ardis with Daphne Police. “That would have added to her charges and potentially injured someone else.”

Police arrested 22-year-old Jalea Denise Washington of Prichard at the scene. She suffered minor injuries to her face as evident in her booking photo. Police said Washington hit extreme speeds during the chase across the bayway…
