Brown security cameras not linked to Providence ‘Real Time Crime’ center

A newly built nerve center for the Providence Police Department was not linked to any video feeds at Brown University on Saturday, Dec. 13, when a gunman killed two people and injured nine others in a campus building, according to the commander of the city’s detective division, Detective Maj. David Lapatin.

At the time of the shooting, the police department’s Real Time Crime Center had access to a total of more than 150 feeds from other cameras across the city, Lapatin said.
