A lunchtime fight outside Sylvester Greenwood Academy in Richmond turned even more serious yesterday when someone pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot, police said, briefly sending two downtown campuses into lockdown.
Richmond officers were called just after noon to the 800 block of Chanslor Avenue, where they found a crowd that included both students and adults. Investigators say a suspect produced a firearm during the melee and fired at least one round. The school building was hit and suffered minor damage, but authorities reported no injuries. The shooter took off before officers got there, according to police.
