Madison man indicted on gun charges pleads not guilty, journal entries reveal plot to flee country

MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man who was indicted by a federal grand jury last week for stockpiling weapons pleaded not guilty during an arraignment Tuesday.

Christopher Perrote, 39, is charged in the Western District of Wisconsin with being a felon in possession of ammunition and possessing unregistered silencers. He faces up to 25 years in federal prison if convicted.

Perrote was arrested in 2021 after Madison police said he shot at a cat and pointed a loaded AR15 at a woman who he was in a relationship with. After his arrest, police seized a large amount of guns, ammunition and body armor from his home…
