A major project to treat Reno-area wastewater and add it back to the drinking water supply is nearing construction next summer, but the estimated cost has more than doubled in the past few years.
Though dozens of similar facilities are operational across the United States, the Advanced Purified Water Facility, located in Stead just south of the existing Reno Stead Water Reclamation Facility, would be the first of its kind in Nevada.
