In 2024, the cheerleading squad at Greater Atlanta Christian made its initial appearance at the Georgia High School Association Game Day State Championships, finishing third behind Mary Persons and West Laurens in Class AAA.
This year, the results were decidedly different as the Spartans captured their first state cheerleading championship on Dec. 3 at the Columbus Civic Center. GAC finished first among 22 teams with 92.70 points, followed by Mary Persons (92.63) and Pickens (92.27).
“I don’t think it’s really set in yet,” said coach Karyn Ivester. “It’s been really cool to win the first state title and make history and see all their hard work come to fruition.”…
