Michigan Trooper Hit by Texting Driver at Detroit Intersection

Distracted driving is completely out of control right now. It’s honestly mind-blowing how many people you see every single time you’re on the road. Not once in a while. Not occasionally. Just one car after another with their face buried in a phone as if nothing else exists.

You notice it at red lights first. Heads down. Thumbs moving. Then the light turns green, and nobody goes. Or worse, they roll through intersections without ever looking up. You see it drifting between lanes, randomly braking for no reason, and missing obvious signs. Half the time, you can call it before you even pass them. Yep, that person’s on their phone.

That’s exactly what police say happened Tuesday evening in downtown Detroit. According to Fox 2 Detroit, a Michigan State Police trooper was stopped at a red light near Washington and West Congress around 5:15 p.m. When the light turned green, and the trooper entered the intersection, a driver blew through the red light and slammed into his patrol car…
