MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An officer with the California Highway Patrol says they discovered a printed copy of a real license plate on the front of a Freightliner in Madera on Tuesday.
CHP officers say they stopped a commercial truck on Highway 99 and Highway 145, where they discovered two license plates attached to the front of the Freightliner, overlapping each other with what the highway patrol said was a suspicious print.
After a closer look, CHP officers discovered the license plate was a printed copy of a real license plate, attached to a metal plate that did not belong to the truck and was covering the original plate.
According to the CHP, California law requires vehicles to display state-issued license plates belonging to the assigned vehicle. Falsifying or forging license plates is considered a serious offense…
