UNION COUNTY, Ga. (WATE) — Knox County Rescue’s Search and Rescue Team helped search for a missing man on Blood Mountain along the Appalachian Trail multiple times in December, KCR confirmed.
Charles Hosch of Texas was last seen on November 11 on the Byron Herbert Reece Trailhead, according to the Union County, Ga. Sheriff’s Office. Union County suspended the search in late November, but Hosch’s family asked accredited teams, including KCR, to help continue the search, KCR said.

KCR searched the mountain on December 1st and returned multiple times during the month. On Monday, it posted that a team of 10 had searched an extensive area despite rough terrain and challenging weather. While they didn’t find Hosch, they eliminated some key areas from the search map.
“Please join us in keeping the family, friends, and all first responders involved in this search in your thoughts and prayers, and in wishing continued safety for those still working the mission,” KCR wrote.
A website dedicated to the search described Hosch as “a beloved Dallas attorney and SMU law professor.”
