Officers with the California Highway Patrol were in pursuit of a motorist out of Ventura County originally wanted for a vehicle with blacked out headlights Tuesday night.
It’s unclear exactly what time deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office initiated the chase, but the suspect, reportedly behind the wheel of a blue-colored SUV, was leading authorities in chase in the southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway and hitting speeds of more than 100 miles per hour as they entered Los Angeles County.
CHP took over the chase at the request of sheriff’s deputies and intercepted the suspect’s vehicle somewhere around Kanan Dume Road, though the weather was preventing law enforcement from tracking the vehicle from the air.
