Truck ‘sitting’ on railroad tracks struck by train, killing driver, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – One person was killed after a crash late Monday night involving a train, police said.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), it happened just before 9:40 p.m. on West Shelby Drive near Sewanee Road in the Westwood neighborhood. Officers arrived to find one person had died after the vehicle crash, police said.

In a report released Tuesday, MPD said officers responded to a deadly crash and learned a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 was “sitting stationary on the railroad tracks, facing south” at the intersection when a train hit it. Police did not further elaborate…
