MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A federal judge on Tuesday ruled the sister-in-law of an alleged drug “kingpin” will remain locked up until her trial next month.
Exavieria Deagnes “DD” Maxie is named in the indictment that accuses Glennie Anotonio McGee of running a multimillion-dollar drug network in the Mobile area, using children as couriers. The case came to light last year after Mobile County sheriff’s deputies reported finding a 3-year-old with a backpack full of drugs.
Maxie had been allowed to be free pending trial, but prosecutors alleged that she flouted the conditions of her pretrial release by making repeated trips outside the Southern District of Alabama.
