Protesters rally against Music City Loop outside Metro Council meeting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Ahead of a Metro Council vote about The Boring Company’s Music City Loop, protesters gathered outside Tuesday night’s meeting to rally against the proposal.

Organizers told News 2 that coalition members knocked on hundreds of doors and had thousands of conversations with Nashvillians about the Music City Loop. State leaders and TBC officials announced the project in July, and the project has been met with criticism from some ever since.

Specifically, organizers mentioned contractors who reportedly walked off the construction site due to both safety concerns and a lack of pay. Additionally, organizers cited environmental concerns — both its potential effects on wildlife and waterways.

“We don’t trust The Boring Company. We don’t trust Musk. Their track record — Musk and his company — proves that they’re not here to help solve our problems, they’re here to get rich quick and build a fun tunnel for Musk’s billionaire friends and politicians to use,” one organizer said at the event.
