Scammers use spoofed numbers to con thousands from Nashville family looking for missing cat

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – An East Nashville family is warning pet owners about scammers who target people searching for missing animals after they were contacted by callers impersonating Metro Nashville officials.

Summer Moore posted on multiple social media sites Saturday after her British Shorthair cat, Alfie, went missing from their home. The indoor cat rarely leaves the house.
